- Check serving size first.
- Use
% Daily Value (%DV) as a quick guide:
5% DV or less = low,
20% DV or more = high.
Choose higher %DV for fiber, potassium, iron, calcium, vitamin D—and lower for saturated fat, sodium, and added sugars.
Portion & Plating
- Fill ½ your plate with non-starchy vegetables first.
- Use hand-based guides (approximate): palm = protein portion; cupped hand = grains/starches; thumb = fats.
- Eat mindfully (slow down, check in at 80% full).
